Is your jewelry box full of earrings and necklaces that no longer fit your style? Perhaps you want to switch up the artwork on your walls to match the new paint color. Or maybe you have a storage unit full of furniture you realize you may never use. No matter what home furnishings or jewelry you no longer need, consignment could be a viable option to clear out some space for something new—and make some money to boot!

How Does Consignment Work?

Not all consignment stores are created equal. At Home Consignment Center, we specialize in more upscale products than you’ll find in other consignment shops. Think of consignment as an upscale specialized pawn shop. When you bring in a piece of furniture or jewelry, one of our trained and experienced staff members will appraise it.

If they accept your item, the store will take it off your hands and do the hard work of pricing, marketing, and selling it on your behalf. All you have to do is sit back and relax—or better yet, browse the latest selections on our showroom floor!—while thousands of shoppers view your item. Once it sells, the consignment store notifies you within 30 days to pay you a portion of the proceeds. It’s really that easy.

What Items Can be Bought and Sold on Consignment?

Different consignment shops deal in different merchandise. At Home Consignment Center, we specialize in home furnishings and jewelry. We are currently accepting:

  • Bedroom sets
  • Dining room sets
  • Living room sets
  • Office furniture
  • Home decor, art, and accessories
  • Patio furniture
  • Unique furniture pieces, from theater chairs to pianos to grandfather clocks
  • High-quality jewelry made from precious metals and gemstones

Be aware that most consignment stores don’t have jewelers on staff to evaluate your jewelry, but Home Consignment Center does! If you have something to consign that you don’t see on this list, contact us to find out if we can sell your item.

Determining if Your Furniture or Jewelry is Fit for Consignment

There’s no guarantee that the furniture or jewelry you no longer want will sell on consignment. The best way to find out is to take your item into a consignment shop and see if our staff approves it. Before you do, ask yourself these questions:

  • Is the item made of high-quality materials?
  • Is the item in like-new condition?
  • Is the item in high demand right now?

If you can answer “yes” to at least two of these questions, you should have a successful consignment experience.

Consign with Us!

Let the experts at Home Consignment Center help you sell your designer furniture or jewelry. There’s no appointment necessary; simply stop by with your potential consignments, or ask us about our convenient pickup services.

Over 80% of the items we approve for consignment sell within the first two to three weeks. One reason for this is because we price our items reasonably and fairly, rather than using the traditional overpricing with automatic markdown method.
